Lake Lanier Water Level Peaking Just Above 1075!  Here Are A Few More Photos Of The Waterfront!

The rain has ceased for now, and Lake Lanier appears to be stabilizing between the 1075-1076 level. The impact of the increased water in the lake is dramatic.  Initially, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers planned to release large amounts of water on New Years Day, but apparently that has changed because of the high water levels already present in lakes and streams south of Lanier.  Take a look at these new photos from yesterday to see the latest impact on our shoreline in my neighborhood.  You can compare the photos to the pics in our last posts to see just how much difference there is...

All of this rain and increase in the lake level left us fretting about our own dock!  Just last month, we completed electrical installation at the dock via shoreline power.  Here are a few photos of what our dock looked like.  Fortunately, Marine Specialties made it out to our location just before the crest was about to overtake our electrical junction box at the base or our dock ramp.  They saved the day in the nick of time and repositioned our dock, keeping us high and dry!

We had our general home inspection last Friday at our latest Lake Lanier home that's under contract. It was a cloudy, rainy, cool day but these photos of the waterfront, park-like setting were incredible! Located on the south end of Lake Lanier, just across the water from Holiday Marina, this setting truly feels like an old U.S.A.C.E. park at the lake.  Imagine the good times and family memories to be enjoyed at a setting like this...

Lake Lanier Photos From Our Boat Ride To The Twisted Oar Restaurant At Holiday Marina In Buford, GA!

Our boating over the past weekend included a run between the rain showers from Gainesville all of the way down to Holiday Marina in Buford, along the south end of Lake Lanier.  The Twisted Oar was our designated lunch stop on Saturday.  We arrived at about 3 P.M. and the restaurant was quickly filling up with Georgia Bulldog fans arriving to watch the Georgia versus Florida game.  We weren't able to spend as much time as we wanted because the storms were moving in quicker than anticipated.  We were getting really nervous watching the massive green and yellow blobs approaching our location on the radar screens.  So, we hastily gobbled down some wings and nachos and tore out of the scene, racing back to our place in Gainesville.  We'll be back again to the Twisted Oar when the threat of storms is negligible.  We made it back without getting wet, but it was an all out run in the old Sea Ray 200, pushing it to the limits as we raced against the radar screen!

Autumn Photos Of Lake Lanier, Aqualand Marina & Hideaway Bay!

Autumn hit pretty hard this week at Lake Lanier. The remnants of the hurricane that hit the western coast of Mexico made its way across the south and southeast. It resulted in a lot of rain this week and a lot of wind. Many of the beautiful colored leaves have now left the trees and have accumulated on the ground taking away a lot of the photo opportunities and beauty of the season. Fortunately, we were lucky enough last weekend to get out on the boat and do a little dining on the lake and a little looking at homes from the waterfront. With the leaves coming down quickly, it made things a bit easier to see from the waterfront.

Our dining experience was our usual favorite, Pig Tails on Lake Lanier at Aqualand Marina. Our server let us know that last weekend was the final weekend of the season for Pig Tails. They closed last weekend for the season. However their sister restaurant Fish Tales will remain open. So, the photos that we took on the lake were mostly pics of our ride from Pig Tails over to Fish Tails.  Just checking out the lake in that area.  Lost of good photos of Autumn color here at Lake Lanier and a short video of the cool outdoor dining experience at Aqualand.

Saturday's Lake Lanier Boat Tour Of Lathem Bay, Taylor Creek & Thompson Creek! A Beautiful Day On The Water!

Honestly, these beautiful September and October days at Lake Lanier don't get much better than yesterday and today.  With plenty of sunshine, beautiful water color, cool breezes and mild temps, this time of year on Lake Lanier is absolutely stunning!  Additionally, it's a time when a lot of visitors stop coming to the lake and things get a lot more quiet and less crowded.  Without a doubt, the character of Lake Lanier changes after Labor Day, but for those that are able to make use of the water as the weather cools, there is no better time to enjoy the serenity of this beautiful lake.

Yesterday, we took off at about 2 P.M.  I mounted the GoPro to the windshield of the old boat and shot random photos all along our boat ride.  We cruised around Lathem Bay, Taylor Creek, Thompson Creek and the Chestatee River.  The pics from yesterday can be viewed in the short YouTube video below!

Seasons Greetings from Lake Lanier! I hope that everyone is getting into the seasonal mood and preparing for Christmas Eve and Christmas morning just a few days away!

Well, even though things seem to be winding down, we have been unexpectedly busy. Since this past weekend we have been out showing homes on the lake in both Hall County and Forsyth County on Lake Lanier. On Saturday we showed homes in Gainesville and Cumming and today we were out showing in Gainesville again.

While we won't be getting a white Christmas we sure are getting a wet Christmas. It's been raining off and on with bands of showers since Sunday. The temperature has been a bit chilly in the forties, and it has made for some very nasty cold weather. But this type of weather brings a solitude and a calmness to Lake Lanier. It is actually quite comforting and relaxing to be out showing property on the waterfront and to enjoy the quiet atmosphere that we've experienced over the past few days.
