Autumn Boating At Lake Lanier! Video Of Our Trip To Gainesville Marina & Lunch At Skogies Restaurant!

These Autumn weekends at Lake Lanier are prime time for boating and enjoying the lake!  We have been taking full advantage of the cooler temperatures and beautiful weather.  There is just no better time to get out on Lake Lanier, do some boating and explore the gorgeous setting on the water.  Last weekend was a little cloudy, but the rain held off on Sunday.  It allowed us to get out and head towards a lunch break at Skogies at Gainesville Marina.  My menu favorite?  The fish tacos and a side of sweet potato fries.  I took plenty of photos of the marina and dining spot, just in case you've never been to Gainesville Marina by boat.  Here's what we saw.  And, by the way, if you're interest in homes for sale in Gainesville, check out our website page of Lake Lanier homes for sale in Gainesville.

A Few Photos Of Athens Boat Club On Lake Lanier...The New Pavilion Is Looking Great!

Last week, we headed to Athens Boat Club on Lake Lanier to top off the SeaRay with a bit of fuel.  As we approached the gas dock by water, a new structure appeared.  It was the beautiful new pavilion!  WOW! What a spacious facility with a large, covered outdoor meeting and dining area, restrooms, and covered vending machines.  The new building overlooks the lake and is a very nicely built structure.  Congratulations to the residents of this community for the planning and development of this project.  It is very nice! Checkout the photos of Athens Boat Club's new pavilion!

Lake Lanier Weekday Waterfront Dining! Enjoy The Lake Without The Crowds!

Well, after a busy record setting Memorial Day weekend on Lake Lanier, it's time to wind down and enjoy a peaceful and calm Lake Lanier. From Gainesville to Flowery Branch, the waters are a lot calmer with less traffic. I hear it all of the time from clients searching for homes on this scenic lake. What's the traffic like on the weekends? What's it like during the week? When I say traffic, I am referring to boat traffic. However, as a Lake Lanier home owner, you can become a weekday warrior and enjoy the lack of boat traffic by boating during the week!

Yesterday evening at about 6:15 P.M. we decided on a whim to take a boat ride from our home in Gainesville all the way down to Flowery Branch for an evening dinner at our favorite Dockside Grill at Aqualand Marina in Flowery Branch. It was a calm 30 minute ride in our 20 foot SeaRay! An old 1991 classic.

Our 1991 SeaRay 200 Sport!  Is it a classic yet?  Runs like a champ!  Reliable MerCruiser!

The run to Aqualand was smooth as silk.  Very few boaters until we reached the south end of the lake below Brown's Bridge Road, at which point it was a lake view of a large group of sailboats!  A gorgeous view of the blue Lake Lanier water and colorful sails!  Docking at Aqualand was a breeze, with few boats and calm water.  Dockside Grill had a steady group of patrons, most arriving by car.  All in all, it was a very relaxing weekday evening on Lake Lanier.  Checkout out photos from the ride!

If you haven't boated on Lake Lanier on a calm weekday, you deserve the treat!  Have the lake to yourself! And if you need a home on the lake, so you can enjoy its beauty everyday, please give us a call and let us show you around!

Weekday Boating Photos From Lake Lanier! Calm Lake Waters And Beautiful Blue Skies!

We frequently hear stories about boat traffic on Lake Lanier.  It is often said that the south end of the lake is extremely busy especially on the weekends.  On Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, you'll find everything from jet skis to house boats kicking up wakes down south of Browns Bridge.  Well, that may be true on the weekends and holidays, but what about during the middle of the week?  What about on a Wednesday after Labor Day?

Today was a special day for boating on Lake Lanier!  Sunny, warm weather and very calm waters.  We saw very few watercraft of any type today.  This was especially true north of Bolling Bridge.  We left our dock at about 12:30 today for a little lunch down south at Dockside Grill at Aqualand Marina.  I might have seen three boats between my run from Johnson Creek all the way to Bolling Bridge!  It didn't change much all the way through the Chestatee Bay to Browns Bridge.

There were a few more boats once we were south of Browns Bridge, but I gotta' tell you, it was like having the lake to ourselves.  What a gorgeous day with smooth water, sunny skies, and warm temperatures.

We showed up at Aqualand,  and we were one of only two or three boats at the visitor dock.  The restaurant was fast and efficient with only about three to four tables taken.  Our food order was cooked quickly and delivered piping hot!  And our dog was the only canine present!

I really cherish weekdays at Lake Lanier, especially in the Fall when temperatures start to cool and leaves change color.  Now is the time to be on the boat.  And today was a premiere example of boating during the week at Lanier.  Take a look at some of our photos from today.  Smooth waters and calm skies.  Welcome to Lake Lanier weekdays!

Lake Lanier Photos From Saturday's Boat Ride!

One of the best things about living and working on Lake Lanier is our ability to have fairly quick access to the lake either by boat or by car.  As a result of this, and the luxury of mobile smart phones, we are always eager to take advantage of quick photography that pinpoints our location.  We snapped the following photos on Saturday.  Most of these pics were taken along the Chestatee River, as it meanders north through Gainesville, Dawsonville and eventually Murrayville.  While the weather and temperature were fantastic on Saturday, it will actually get even better as we move into September and October here on Lake Lanier!  Please enjoy the photos and share some of yours as well!
