We're getting a few light showers here today at Lake Lanier! And while this light rain will not do a lot for the low water level, everyone is wondering how long this drought will last. Last Saturday evening, I pulled my boat out from the lake and rolled it into the garage for winter storage. I had about two feet of water depth in my slip. Naturally, I wondered when I might be returning the boat to the slip. Will I be launching back into the lake in the Spring? Talk to most old timers out here on Lanier and they adamantly proclaim that the water will be back! No worries, they say...We've been thru all of this before and we will surely go thru this again. Looking back at my sales records, I would say that we might certainly be looking at a big buying opportunity here at Lake Lanier. For buyers looking for properties on the lake, we are starting to see more price reductions, lots of inventory and of course opportunity. If history is any indication of the future, we must believe that these water levels will turn upward in the future. A full lake in the Spring is a wonderful experience for pleasure and for business. The national attention that is present about Lake Lanier today is extraordinary and certainly has its effects on real estate prices and sales in a negative way. All of this makes me analyze the old saying "Buy Low, Sell High!" Is now the time to be buying?
