Lake Lanier Home Sales Stats For First Quarter 2014! Mostly Good News!

With the first quarter of 2014 Lake Lanier home sales mostly in the books, we decided to take a look at how the market did.  Typically, I like to wait until about the middle of the month to report the stats, because there always seems to be some time lag in posting the previous month's sales.  Pulling these numbers on the fifth of the month might be a tad premature, but I just couldn't wait to take a look.  So, that said, here's what we have for Lake Lanier waterfront home sales (mobiles & modulars excluded) with a dock on the lake for the first quarter of 2014.

Here's the important stuff:

Number Of Sales:  57
Average Sales Price:  $498,794
Average Total Days On Market:  177

Now, stay with me for a moment and let's get geeky.  Do you think 2014 was better than 2013 for the first quarter of Lake Lanier home sales?  We had the frigid cold weather, unusual amounts of snow, ice, Ukraine turmoil, a more volatile stock market, etc., etc.  Let's take a look!

Wow!  I was surprised, how about you?

Here are the important take-aways for 2014 performance:

Number Of Sales:  Up 63%
Average Sales Price:  Down 7.5%
Average Total Days On Market:  Down 26%

Tarahumata For Fantastic, Authentic, Mexican Food & Atmosphere Just Twenty Minutes South Of Lake Lanier!

My wife and I love Mexican food!  It's great almost anytime and anywhere.  But, we've travelled south on Hwy. 400 to Tarahumata a handful of times and we've always had great food, great service and a fun lively atmosphere.  Located on Windward Parkway in Alpharetta, this Mexican grill and tequila bar is approximately 14 miles south of Buford Dam.  That's a short 20 minute drive and well worth the trip.

Tonight, we sampled the usual chips, salsa and some fantastic guacamole.  I had the chicken pintos and my wife enjoyed some mini carne asada tacos.  There was a live band and the place was full and hopping.  We dine out quite a bit, and every now and again we'll venture a bit further off the lake to try new places.  If you haven't tried Tarahumata Mexican Grill & Tequila Bar, make plans for a fun evening of authentic Mexican cuisine, music and a lively atmosphere!

The Lake Lanier Association Needs Your Membership! Take A Look At Everything They Do For Our Lake Community!

Today was a wonderful day at Lake Lanier!  Especially since I was invited to a special luncheon courtesy of the Lake Lanier Association.  I made my way up McEver Road on the east side of Lake Lanier as I travelled from Cumming, through Buford, Flowery Branch, Oakwood and finally to the Lake Lanier Association's office at 615 Oak Street in downtown Gainesville.  The purpose of the luncheon was a desire on the part of the association to reach out to a few Lake Lanier real estate agents in order to present the association's mission and gather suggestions on how to increase membership.  It was a small group, but we shared plenty of information, suggestions and ideas amongst the group.  And that was a good thing!

The Lake Lanier Association was founded in 1966.  It currently has approximately 1,700 members.  Some of the members are individuals, families and local businesses.  I think that everyone that lives or works around our Lake Lanier community should be proud of the work that this group undertakes.  However, with over 10,000 dock permits and properties on this lake, one might certainly consider that the association should have more members and a greater voice and presence on issues concerning our Lake Lanier.  The Lake Lanier Association needs all of us as either members or donors!  Today, I committed to assist in helping increase awareness of, and membership in, this valuable organization.  In short, if you use and enjoy this wonderful lake for recreation, pleasure, business or investment you should seriously consider giving back with a donation or membership in the Lake Lanier Association.  Please checkout the slide presentations and the links below for a look at who they are and what they do.
